Colorless Green Ideas Sleep Furiously

an online Rorschach test
regurgitated some paper
between its bat-like teeth
and commanded me
to ingest the prophecy

i placed the phylactery above
my forehead and stood out-
side a ways from shelter
under hoary clouds of rain

tossed into the revolving
drum of condensation,
unstable air and a current
of passionate worship

with eyes closed so no one
can hear my internal scream
trying to comprehend ink

blotting the test of white space
but the algorithm is broken
so the adverb hangs on end

Laura strives to be a vegetarian, but misses seafood and will occasionally cheat.  After an extended recess, she has returned to school to obtain a degree in English. In her free time she enjoys video games, although school often preempts the killing of internet dragons. While she enjoys an excellent margarita on occasion, she only wishes she could drink like Jessica Jones.

Laura has discovered a passion for editorial work and intends to pursue it after graduating. Her first published work appeared in ALiteration Magazine in June 2015. She has since had multiple poems and short stories published in a variety of print and online journals. She recently received the Quinton Duval Award Honorable Mention 2016.
